A DAY LATE!!!

... or perhaps 365+ days?
I got so very busy with life after creating this blog that I honestly forgot about it!
Busy with travel, sick dogs (now deceased), house hunt, new house, new puppy (now 1yr, 4 mths).
What can I say?
But I have been working on RetroCache, and continue to find great pieces to share.
This fabulous beret by Modernette is one of them. I acquired this hat, along with several others, from a woman who inherited them from her grandmother. They all date somewhere between the 1920s and 1950s, and are in surprisingly excellent vintage condition.
As I've always said... there's nothing quite like a great hat!

I'll perhaps try to tend to this blog, now that I remembered I have one ;)

Etsy Mini from my Vintage Shop, RetroCache

Well, a month later and HERE IT IS... the ETSY MINI! The gallery below is just a sampling of the items I have available for sale in my vintage shop. Hope you'll click on the link and take a look! I have many more items to be listed soon, so check it out and let me know what you think :)

In order to buy or sell on etsy.com, one must first register. But the only requirements for registration are an email and password. There is truly a wealth of talent across the globe... fabulous handmade items created by artists of all persuasions, and incredible vintage items offered by those who have an eye for 'old' beauty!

Take a look; you won't be sorry!

What's In A Name?

Remember this from English lit class:
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet."
Of course... William Shakespeare... Romeo and Juliet...

I thought I'd begin this blog with that quote, as it seems a fitting way for me to introduce myself.
My name is Lisa. However, I am referencing my French name, Lise (leez), here on Blogger. Lise is one of a few nicknames that has managed to stick over the years; it was used in high school French class.

There is more to my site title, The Vintage Wife, than meets the eye. Am I old? Hardly! Forties are the new twenties, don't ya know :) On the rare occasion, I feel every nano-second of every decade, but not often. And if I had the choice, I honestly don't think I'd choose to be 20 again. With age comes wisdom... really!

My husband has been racing motorcycles on the WERA circuit (vintage class) for the last 8 years, so I truly am a 'vintage' wife. But more currently, I have opened a vintage shop on etsy.com. My shop name is called RetroCache, and can be found here:
http://www.etsy.com/shop/RetroCache
I'd love it if you'd take a look, tell me what you think, tell me what you might be interested in buying at some point. Feedback would be greatly appreciated, and I would love to know what to keep my eyes open for.

I'll be posting some photos and possibly an Etsy Mini on this site in the near future. Lots of fabulous items... a groovy coffee service from the '60s, milk glass set from the '50s, several beautiful silverplate items, and much more!

So, stay tuned... and check out RetroCache. I'm doing the vintage showcase on 5-4-2010.
